I'm a grandmother, but after working for 20 years in Pakistan, we then re-located to Afghanistan (Kabul).
We have one 2 year old grandson in Canada whom we have seen twice. The other grandson is in Indonesia, now 8 months old, we have not yet seen in the flesh. This really is part of the sacrifice. The hurt.
It is family that I certainly miss the most – even though I call Kabul home.
We are Australians, but with 3 MK kids who all married class mates at Murree Christian School, in northern Pakistan, it now means each adult child lives in a different country--to us, and our home country. Now, what is our home country? Australia is not any more because we have no immediate family there. It leaves us sort of all stranded--praise God He knows. We look to Him daily, who alone can give us peace in our hearts, regardless of outward circumstantces--whether it's rockets, bombs, suicide bombers, or just plain lack of family!
Love and blessings, Janna
